  • It’s rough, it’s dusty and it’s basic. You will hardly encounter another tourist along this route. This is the epitome of off the beaten track or ‘away from it all’. The land is sparsely populated, miles and miles of un inhabited terrain. This is the most beautiful landscape in the entire country.

You encounter and mingle with authentic cultures along the route, their distance from the cities a preserving advantage. Once you leave Marsabit, wildlife becomes scarce –maybe an occasional Giraffe as the Aridity increases. Prepare to live in basic accommodations, the food is plenty and well prepared and fresh.

Later as you descend to Maralal towards Lake Baringo, the desolation decreases and once again you are back to modernity.

A Well-deserved extension to the beach in Mombasa, Malindi or Zanzibar is available on all Kenya Safari Trips
